This Friday (27th May) will be the first major sale of Charollais sheep on offer for breeders in the form of the dispersal of the Oakchurch flock of Jeremy and Ala Price.
Taking place on farm at Oakchurch Farm in Staunton on Wye (HR4 7NE), just outside of Hereford at 1.30pm, this export eligible sale means breeders from both Northern and Southern Ireland can take advantage of the 51 aged ewes, 27 shearling ewes and 26 ewe lambs available on the day. The timing of just being ahead of the Society’s AGM means buyers can attend the sale before the AGM with Jeremy offering the chance of sheep remaining on farm while breeders go on and attend the AGM.
Jeremy and his family are inviting sale goers to a welcome from 10.30 where strawberries from the family’s successful farm shop will be served with a glass of Prosecco or two.
Having celebrated success in the show rings over the years as well as good trade for females and rams both at sales and privately on farm, this sale presents prospective buyers with an opportunity to buy in to strong genetics. The focus has clearly been on the commercial elements of the breed of the years for Jeremy with his preference being for a muscular Charollais with the ability of fleshing well after lambing.
