Logie Durno Jackpot daughter leads High Flyers at 4000gns

Sale leader at this month’s Hereford High Flyers sale was a ewe lamb from William and Carole Ingram, Aberdeenshire, selling for 4000gns. 

Logie Durno 24ZNN54249 is by Logie Durno Jackpot out of a homebred Loanhead Talisman daughter who was a class winner at the Highland in 2019 and 2022 and produced the first prize winning ewe lamb at this year’s Highland and Welsh. She sold on the telephone to Northern Ireland to Glenn Baird, Jamie Davidson and Douglas Hill.

Next up was the shearling ewe price leader, Pembroke Bling Bling 23VJZ04980 from David Lewis, Narberth, Pembrokeshire. By Knockin Attitude and out of a Sant Andras female by Castellau Ulysses, she is full ET-bred sister to the £9000 Pembroke Bulletproof. She sold having been scanned for twins to Foxhill Benedict, for 3200gns to the Hunter family for their Skelton Whin flock, Hunmanby, North Yorkshire.

At 2900gns, and also heading north, this time to Huddersfield with Richard Bamforth for his Lower Denby flock, was a shearling ewe from the Ingram family, Logie Durno 23ZNN49116. By the 15,000gns Wernfawr Ace and out of a homebred Foxhill Va Va Voom daughter who is full sister to the 9000gns Walking Thunder, she sold carrying twins to Moelfryn Corker.

Back with David Lewis’ pen and his second best was the 2000gns Pembroke Black Magic 23VJZ05004, a Foxhill Va Va Voom daughter out of a an Arbyrn female purchased at the High Flyers sale in 2021 for 3400gns. A full sister to the £5500 Pembroke Benchmark and scanned for twins to Boyo Vancouver, the hammer fell to Paul Curran for the Brecon, Powys-based Wernfawr flock.

At the same price tag was the best from Arwyn Thomas, Whitland, Carmarthenshire. Arbryn 23WRF00953 is an Arbryn Attila daughter out of a homebred Brettles Sherman daughter. Having been placed reserve champion at Brecon Show and sold scanned to AI to Arbryn Celt, this was the pick of M L and C O M Pugh, Clifford, Herefordshire.

Another from the Ingram pen then sold for 1600gns, this time Logie Durno 23ZNN49203, another by Wernfawr Ace and out of a homebred Va Va Voom daughter. Sold carrying twins to Moelfryn Corker, she joins the Glyn Coch flock of Adrian Davies, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. 

Meanwhile at 1500gns was another from Arwyn Thomas, in the form of Arbryn 23WRF00987. Again, by Atilla and this time out of an Artnagullion Turbo daughter, she was a class winner at Pembrokeshire Show as a ewe lamb. AI’d to Arbryn Chief, this one was the pick of previous buyer Messrs Pugh, Clifford.

The best from Jennifer Curtis’ Elmwick pen was a call of 1450gns for her show shearling ewe from this year, Elmwick Bella 23DQ02976. By Bicton Almighty and out of an Arbyrn Tonto homebred daughter, she was reserve breed champion at Moreton-In-Marsh Show and now joins the Boyo flock of David Roberts, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
