David and Johnathan Norman’s ewe lamb from their Kirkhouse flock in Cumbria was pick of the sale at Skipton Market (Saturday 12th October). The daughter of Banwy Oh What A Boy out of the top producing Springhill ewe was knocked down to Tom Newth. The lamb joins his Prestleigh flock in Castle Cary, Somerset.
Helen Sloan and Hannah Jackson’s Rigghead Flock from Dumfries had a strong pen of shearling ewes forward which was topped at 1,200 gns for a daughter of Foxhill Va Va Voom. The ewe was sold carrying triplets to Skyefall Bandit to Adam Richardson from South Yorkshire for his Silkstone flock. A full sister to this ewe sold for 950 gns to K A & J E Gascoinge, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, who also took another from the same pen at 800 gns. A third full sister from the Rigghead flock, sold for 800 gns this time to John Geldard, Low Foulshaw Farm, Cumbria.
Charles Marwood from Foulrice, nr York had his annual draft of 15 in-lamb gimmers and 7 ewe lambs at the sale. His top price was 900 gns for the pre-sale champion, a ewe lamb by Foulrice Aristocrat. Her buyer was Robert Towers from Carnforth, Lancs for his Camp House flock. Fourlice shearling ewes peaked at 800 gns twice; once for a Lowerye Vulcan daughter carrying triples to Oldwood Big Boy which sold to S J & J E Hobson, West Yorkshire and again for a Fourlice Aristocrat ewe carrying triples to the Oldwood sire. Buyer for this one was A F & K L Hodsman, Malton, North Yorkshire.
