Ingram family take home the champion rosette at Royal Welsh Show

A senior ewe from the Aberdeenshire flock of the Ingram family took the championship prize at this year’s Royal Welsh Show. A tremendous presentation of stock from breeders new and old from right across the UK were expertly judged by David Roberts from Shropshire.

“I could not get past the ewe; she had all the qualities I love in the Charollais breed, scale, flesh, correctness with a touch of spark but still very feminine” The ewe was sired by Boyo Vancouver out of a Loanhead Talisman ewe.

Females ruled the day and the overall reserve champion came from the outstanding class of ewe lambs. Adrian Davies’s Glyn Coch lamb by Moelfryn Bouncer out of a Logie Durno Wall Street ewe showed tremendous presence on the loose and earnt her to reserve ticket.

The male championship award went to a home bred shearling ram from Gareth Jones’s Robleston flock in Pembrokeshire. Robleston Be Rich was sired by Loanhead Washington out of a home bred ewe by Rhaeadr Real Deal ewe.

The winner of the ram lamb class, a Glyn Coch Ace son from Paul Curran’s Wernfawr flock in Brecon not only stood top of the Charollais but went on to win the highly competitive Interbreed Ram Lamb section. The interbreed judge, Geoff Probert was impressed by the ram lamb’s growth and super shape and fleshing, whilst remaining correctness throughout. The lamb was reserve male champion.

Winner of the shearling ewe class also came from the Ingram family; the Logie Durno ewe was by Logie Durno All Star out of a Dalby Tuilagi ewe.

The senior ram red ticket went to Charles Sercombe’s stock ram, Tullyear Artemis by Duiske V Man. This ram was also part of the winning group of three for the Dalby Flock from Leicestershire.
