Victory for Logie Durno Ewe at Royal Highland

The Ingram family from Aberdeenshire were in top winning form at this year’s Royal Highland Show taking first place in 6 of the 7 classes. Over from Northern Ireland was top breeder, Graham Foster of the Springhill Flock to carry out the judging. He choose the 2 shear ewe from Loanhead as his champion, describing her as a “faultless, flashy ewe”. Her sire was Boyo Vancouver and her dam was sired by LoanheadTalisman.

Standing reserve overall champion was the winner of the ewe lamb class. This December embryo lamb was by the Ingram’s new stock ram, Cavick Blood Diamond purchased privately last July. The dam was sired by Logie Durno Umpire.

In the male classes the champion was the ram lamb from the Logie Durno Flock; this is also sired by Cavick Blood Diamond and out of one of the Ingram’s most successful breeding ewes, 14ZNN09901 by Logie Durno Jackpot. This lamb will be offered for sale at the Carlisle Supreme Sale on Saturday 29th June.

Winning the reserve male championship award was the 1stprize shearling ram from the Logie Durno flock. Sired by Crogham Aries II his full brother was Champion ram lamb at the 2023 Worcester Premier Sale and this yearling will be on sale at this year’s sale at Worcester.

Top of the line-up of strong shearling ewes was a Logie Durno ewe, sired by Logie Durno All Star and out of a Dalby Tuilagi ewe.

Jonathan Wales and his son from the Thackwood flock in Cumbria, headed the class of senior rams with their stock ram, Logie Durno Walking Thunder by the previous Highland Show winner, Foxhill Va Va Voom. This stock sire will be at Carlisle Supreme sale.

Topping off the day in the Group of Three were animals from the Ingram Family.
